September 4, 2001 is the final date for comments to be filed with the OSHA Docket office in regards to new record keeping rules that may eliminate the recording of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).
John Henshaw was officially confirmed as the new Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA. Henshaw has yet to make an official statement concerning OSHA and any possible ergonomics regulations.

Since 1983 there has been an organized effort to pass a standard in the State of California to protect workers from Repetitive Motion Injuries (RMIs). Such a measure passed and became effective as a regulation on July 3, 1997.
