Common issues

Tasks that require using manual scoops can involve repetitive motions, sometimes with a relatively heavy load.

Common options for improvement

Metal with grip at end Plastic with grip over center

New styles of plastic scoops have become available in recent years. These scoops are lighter, plus the handles are located over the center of gravity, which also reduces the strain on the wrists.

This photo shows another design made from aluminum and with a slightly different grip.

With sufficient volume, hoppers are a feasible option, providing several advantages:

  • Faster
  • Cleaner
  •  Less strain on hand and arm
  • Fill precise amount
