There appears to be a score of good reasons for pulling up concrete sidewalks and replacing them with rubber pavement, and one of them is the bounce. It eases wear and tear on the musculoskeletal system, a quality that gives rubber sidewalks ergonomic credentials. And the new paving material appears to have 5-star environmental and economic credentials as well.
The Associated Press (AP) reported in July that some 60 cities across the country have gone over to rubber because it offers safety benefits, protects trees and reduces maintenance costs.
Unlike concrete, the rubber paving isn
