The Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE) is gearing up to create new services on their website and also make some changes to the applications process.
The deadline to submit an application for a particular exam administration has been changed from two, to three months, prior to an exam date. This change became effective with the upcoming September 29 exam offering in Baltimore, MD. This exam will be administered as part of the annual Human Factors and Ergonomics Society meeting.
This change also means that the next exam application deadline is September 9, 2002. This application will be to test at the National Ergonomics Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas, NV, December 9, 2002.
BCPE is also preparing to launch a job bank on its web site. The bank will be accessible/usable by both certified and non-certified professionals. Here you will be able to post a current opening at your facility or check for job opportunities.
Also under development is a pre-screening process whereby individuals interested in certification, but uncertain of their eligibility, will be able to submit information on their educational background and employment history, for review by BCPE. A small fee will be assessed for this service, but if an individual is deemed eligible for certification, this fee will be applied toward his or her application processing fee, if/when an application is submitted.
Finally, you will be able to join the BCPE at the Eighth Annual BCPE Networking Reception, to be held this year in Baltimore, MD, the evening of Tuesday, October 1, from 7:30-9:00 PM. This event is also held in conjunction with the annual Human Factors and Ergonomics Society meeting.
