How clever are smart cards? The answer may be irrelevant because there’s more than a touch of infatuation in the way public and private organizations view smart card technology. They see it as a solution to many taxing efficiency and security issues. It’s a development that means the demand for ergonomic solutions that build on existing or projected smart card systems can only increase.
To harness the best of the technology and stay wise to its potential flaws, ergonomists may do well to add CARTES and CeBIT to their list of professional conferences and trade shows each year.
