Bellingham, WA – September 5, 2012 – The Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE) has taken a major step forward to hire a part-time Executive Director, the only one since Dieter Jahns, who co-founded BCPE and held the position from 1990 to 1998. In the last 20 years the certificate holders have steadily increased and the organization has become fiscally sound. The Board of Directors of BCPE decided a dedicated Executive Director will help the organization continue to grow. Nominations were solicited from both within and outside BCPE and after a rigorous resume review and interview process, Carol Stuart-Buttle, MS, CPE, was selected for the position.
Carol is a past Director of the BCPE, a Human Factors & Ergonomics Society Fellow, a Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and presently serves as Editor of Ergonomics in Design. Recognizing that BCPE certificate holders come from many varied academic and professional backgrounds, Carol brings her long-standing relationships with a wide range of professional organizations associated with ergonomics and human factors. And, recognizing that future BCPE certificate holders will come from both national and international locations, Carol brings her partnerships with international ergonomics organizations as well. She will be working with the BCPE Board to set and implement our strategic plan. She welcomes feedback from past, current, and potential certificants to continuously improve the value of being a BCPE certificate holder. She will be dividing her time between BCPE and her consulting practice Stuart-Buttle Ergonomics. The BCPE Board of Directors looks forward to Carol Stuart-Buttle’s exemplary leadership in the years ahead.
BCPE’s professional credentials are endorsed by the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) and accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). BCPE is also recognized by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) as a premier credentialing organization for the Human Factors/Ergonomics profession and is a corporate member of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (formerly the National Organization for Competency Assurance).
