BCPE to End Certification by Portfolio Review July 30

Bellingham, WA – May 20, 2008 – The BCPE® (Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics) will end Certification by Portfolio Review on July 30, 2008. Certification by Portfolio Review is available to accomplished professionals with at least fifteen (15) years of ergonomics/human factors/usability work experience.

BCPE originally targeted April 30, 2008 as the closure date for the portfolio review process. However, a larger than expected number of applications and some uncertainty among eligible candidates as to when and how the process will terminate prompted the Board to briefly extend the application deadline. The portfolio option is being discontinued as BCPE positions itself for accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the accrediting body for the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA).

Qualified candidates are invited to apply and can download a free application form from the bcpe.org web site at http://bcpe.org/store/detail.asp?RecordID=51.  Once submitted, portfolio applications are evaluated in accordance with BCPE’s stringent blind review process. Portfolio Review applications submitted after July 30, 2008 will not be accepted.
